JAKOA Allocates RM478,000 For STR Payments To Orang Asli In Gua Musang

Gua Musang: The Kelantan branch of the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) has allocated RM478,250 in Rahmah Cash Contributions (STR) to 974 Orang Asli recipients in the district.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JAKOA Kelantan and Terengganu deputy director Roslina Bun stated that the allocation covers STR payments for recipients from phases one to four this year. The disbursement of STR payments to the Orang Asli community from various locations, including Pos Gob, Pos Simpor, Pos Bihai, and Pos Belatim, took place over the past two days.

JAKOA coordinated with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), the Inland Revenue Board, and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to track down recipients who had not received payments and facilitated the cash distribution at designated counters. This was conveyed by Roslina during the Rahmah Cash Contribution Payment Programme at Dewan Bonda Yah, RPS Kuala Betis.

Roslina explained that Orang Asli members without bank accounts or with inactive accounts could still receive cash payments, with the highest amount reaching RM2,200 for families with multiple dependants. JAKOA also provided assistance for account activation and registration to ensure future payments are credited directly into recipients’ accounts.

The initiative was implemented following a recommendation from BNM, aiming to help the Orang Asli community manage their finances more effectively.
