The department of islamic development malaysia (jakim) has urged all parties involved in film and television production to refer to the guidelines on content censorship for islamic-themed broadcasting materials:hemed Broadcasting Materials, particularly when producing content involving religious matters and Islamic values. JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee emphasized the importance of media content due to its significant influence in conveying messages and shaping societal values, particularly on matters concerning religion, morality, and the sensitivities of the Muslim community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JAKIM has engaged with the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) to discuss efforts, initiatives, and approaches to ensure that produced content considers religious values, aqidah (faith), Syariah, morality, and public sensitivities. JAKIM is committed to continuing its collaboration with FINAS and other relevant agencies through engagement sessions and the sharing of views with industry players, aiming to strengthen understanding of the guidelines and ensure the production of content that respects religious values and the public interest.

Sirajuddin also acknowledged measures taken by the Ministry of Communications through FINAS to enhance procedures and compliance relating to content in the film and television industry. In a prior instance, JAKIM, along with FINAS and the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum, held discussions with production companies and a streaming platform regarding the content of a drama series that had sparked public concern and controversy. The content, which began airing on the streaming platform last month, was alleged to contain elements infringing on religious sensitivities and local cultural norms.
