JAKIM To Implement AI For Faster Halal Certification Process

Kuala lumpur: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) is aiming to reduce the processing time for halal certification applications by incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Its director-general, Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, announced the plan to integrate the MyeHALAL 2.0 system, bolstered by the MyHALALINGREDIENTS database, in the upcoming months. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the director-general emphasized the utilization of existing data through AI technology to streamline the application process. The MyeHALAL 2.0 system will evaluate each application using the MyHALALINGREDIENTS database as a support mechanism. This digital advancement is set to align with the government's goal of fostering industry growth by expediting the approval process. In addition to AI, Sirajuddin revealed that JAKIM has introduced a whitelist initiative aimed at companies demonstrating high commitment and compliance. This initiative is designed to further accelerate the halal certification pr ocess for such companies. For businesses on the whitelist, the approval process can be completed within a week, provided that all supporting documents are submitted promptly. This approach acknowledges the companies' dedication and eliminates unnecessary hurdles in the certification process.
