JAKIM Initiates Nightly Solat Hajat for Palestinians Amid Gaza Crisis

Kuala Lumpur: As a sign of solidarity for fellow Muslims in Palestine, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will hold nightly solat hajat (special prayers of need) at three of its main mosques, starting today until the end of Ramadan. JAKIM director-general, Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, announced that these prayers will take place at Masjid Negara, Masjid Putra, and Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin every night after Isyak prayers.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Sirajuddin highlighted that Israel’s recent airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of 404 people, including women and children, and injured 562 others, were a violation of the ceasefire agreement and a continuation of the oppression against the Palestinian people. He urged for unity in prayer for the safety and victory of the Palestinians during Ramadan.

Dr Sirajuddin further expressed hope that Allah SWT would grant their prayers for those engaged in struggles during the month of Ramadan.

In related events, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim condemned the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of eight humanitarian workers from the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) in an airstrike. Anwar characterized the attacks as indefensible and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to voicing opposition to international leaders and the global community.
