Selangor: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has been tasked with investigating reports of alleged immoral activities that took place during a family motivation program held at a local convention center.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari emphasized the importance of addressing these allegations with seriousness. He asserted that strict actions would be taken if the investigations prove the claims to be true. The event in question was reportedly organized privately and was not associated with the state government, necessitating a detailed inquiry into the matter.
Amirudin expressed his concerns following the revelations, highlighting the need for a comprehensive investigation to ensure accountability. He mentioned that any individuals found to be involved in these activities should face strict consequences. When questioned about whether the management of the convention center would be called to explain, Amirudin stated that the initial step would be to submit the matter to the authorities for a formal investigation.
The issue gained attention following a statement by Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr. Sirajuddin Suhaimee. He noted that his department would examine the organization of the marriage motivation program that allegedly involved indecent acts and idolatry. This program was held at the convention center in September of the previous year, prompting the current investigation by JAIS.
