JAIMA and Malaysia-Japan Institute To Host Green Technology Symposium

Kuala Lumpur:The Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers' Association (JAIMA), in collaboration with the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Japanese research institutions, and government agencies, will host its inaugural joint symposium in Malaysia on November 4.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the symposium, themed 'Green Technology', aims to address local social and environmental challenges using analytical instruments and measurement technologies. It will highlight research, technologies, and initiatives by Japanese and Malaysian institutions and companies to support a decarbonised society.

The event will also encourage knowledge exchange and collaborative solutions as Malaysia works towards its green transformation (GX) initiatives to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Academic lectures will be presented by researchers from Hokkaido University in Japan on green biotechnology for sustainable nitrogen and carbon management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on green-synthesised nanomaterials for environmental remediation, and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on lightweight engineering for a greener future.

Technical presentations will feature Chitose Laboratory Corporation representative Yosuke Kataoka, among others from JAIMA member companies, showcasing their products and solutions for green technology.

The symposium will take place in a hybrid format at Dewan Seminar, Level 1, Anjung Menara Razak, UTM Kuala Lumpur Campus, with online participation available via Zoom. The event will be conducted in English, with on-site attendance capped at 100 participants.

Participation is free, and those attending in person will receive a networking lunch. There is also an optional tour of MJIIT's laboratories available at no charge, but advance registration is required. The tour is limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
