IWK Hosts Iftar With Sahabat Istimewa And Local Communities

Kuala lumpur: National sewerage company Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd hosted a breaking fast event that brought together its Sahabat Istimewa IWK, local communities, and small traders, fostering unity and spreading the spirit of care during Ramadan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation. It was held as part of IWK's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives under the Sahabat Istimewa IWK programme, aimed at fostering inclusivity and meaningful engagement within the community.

IWK Chief Executive Officer Narendran Maniam stated that the initiative not only brought the local community together to enjoy a breaking fast meal but also provided small traders with a valuable opportunity to boost their income. "Amid global geopolitical uncertainties, we are grateful for the opportunity to share our rezeki with our friends from the disabled community and local communities. We are honored to celebrate this spirit with our Sahabat Istimewa and the local community by sharing duit raya, breaking fast together, presenting food packs, and supporting the small traders," he told reporters after the event.

Fadillah earlier presented duit raya to the disabled groups attending the event and joined IWK management in giving out 500 breaking fast packs to the local community, bought directly from traders at the IWK Ramadan Carnival. He also took time to meet small traders at the IWK Ramadan Carnival held at the IWK Eco Park, demonstrating his support for local businesses.

Also present at the event were representatives from several non-governmental organisations, including the Malaysian Sign Language and Deaf Studies Association (MyBIM), Persatuan OKU Sentral, Persatuan Kebajikan Ahsana KL (PKAKL), the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM), and Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK).
