Investigation Into AKPS Director-General Incident at KLIA Moves Forward

Kuala Lumpur:The investigation paper regarding an incident involving the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 is set to be referred to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail announced that the investigation paper will be submitted for review, advice, and further instructions in accordance with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.

The police have recorded statements from 25 witnesses to assist in the investigation of the September 28 incident. These include testimonies from Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel, AKPS officers, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) auxiliary police personnel, baggage handling system workers, medical officers, and independent witnesses.

The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department is conducting the investigation under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing bodily pain, disease, or infirmity to another person.

Mohd Khalid emphasized that the PDRM is committed to a transparent, professional, and impartial investigation based on witness statements and evidence to ensure a thorough examination of every aspect of the incident. He also advised the public against speculating or drawing conclusions that could disrupt the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings.
