Kuala Lumpur:The International Fire Conference and Exhibition Malaysia 2027 (IFCEM 2027) will be a crucial platform for the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) to explore and evaluate new assets and technologies aimed at enhancing its operational capabilities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, scheduled from September 28 to October 1, 2027, will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and will run alongside the Asia Fire Safety Expo (AFSE 2027).
JBPM deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Nordin Pauzi emphasized the importance of keeping the country's fire and rescue agency aligned with global technological advancements. He noted that JBPM not only participates in local exhibitions but also sends representatives to international events to assess potential new technologies and assets.
The IFCEM, held every three years, is organized through a strategic collaboration between JBPM, the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) Malaysia Branch, Malaysia Fire Protection Association, the Confederation of Fire Protection Associations International, and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. The event is expected to feature an exhibition with 220 booths and seminars attracting approximately 1,500 participants from both local and international backgrounds.
Nordin highlighted the rapid advancement of fire safety technology, driven by emerging challenges such as the risks posed by electric vehicles (EVs) and data centers. He emphasized the necessity of integrating advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to assist rescue teams in analyzing risks, predicting outcomes, and making timely, accurate decisions during emergencies.
The conference will not only showcase assets and services but also serve as a networking and knowledge-sharing platform for engineers and other industry professionals in the fire safety sector.
