Bandar Seri Begawan: Intelsat, operator of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network, has been selected by Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) to provide a state-of-the-art multi-orbit inflight connectivity service for the airline’s Airbus A320neo fleet. This strategic partnership is set to enhance the passenger experience by offering fast and dependable internet access during flights.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this agreement further cements Intelsat’s position as a leading provider of broadband services among airlines in the Asia-Pacific region. Intelsat expressed pride in being chosen to deliver a cutting-edge product that will ensure Royal Brunei’s passengers can enjoy reliable connectivity akin to what they experience at home, regardless of their flight path.
Royal Brunei Airlines’ Chief Executive Officer, Captain Sabirin Haji Abdul Hamid, highlighted the significance of this technological advancement, stating that the new connectivity standard aligns with RB’s commitment to innova
tion and providing exceptional travel experiences. The national carrier, established in 1974, serves destinations across Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
The installation of Intelsat’s multi-orbit system, featuring a highly reliable electronically steered array (ESA) antenna, is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. This advanced technology, measuring less than seven centimetres in height, will connect to both geostationary (GEO) and low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, setting a new benchmark in inflight connectivity solutions.
