Insken Allocates RM8.9 Million to Boost Entrepreneur Digitalisation: Mohamad

Kuala lumpur: The National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN) has announced an allocation of RM8.9 million dedicated to the INSKEN Individual Training and Guidance (Bangkit) Programme, aimed at advancing the digitalisation of entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, Datuk Mohamad Alamin, emphasized that this program, rooted in a mentor-mentee model, seeks to improve digital literacy and accelerate business transformation, particularly within the e-commerce sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative includes a series of courses, seminars, and workshops intended to bolster digital skills among entrepreneurs. The program has demonstrated its effectiveness through a noticeable increase in sales revenue for entrepreneurs who have adopted digital practices via this e-commerce initiative. Mohamad made these remarks during a session in the Dewan Rakyat, responding to Rodiyah Sapiee (GPS-Batang Sadong) about INSKEN's efforts to enhance entrepreneur development, especially concerning digitalisation and the expansion of the Biaya Ramadan dan Perniagaan Rakyat (BARAKAT) scheme.

Mohamad further detailed that as of February 22, 2,204 entrepreneur applications for the BARAKAT scheme have been approved, totaling RM29.9 million in financing. Additionally, around 500 more applications, worth nearly RM5 million, are in the processing stage and anticipated to receive approval soon.

In response to Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (PN-Sungai Besar) on the topic of Bumiputera economic control, Mohamad reassured that Bumiputera involvement in the entrepreneurship sector, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), will be continually fortified through digitalisation programs like the MyMail platform, which has generated nearly RM30 million in sales revenue to date.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts to safeguard Bumiputera entrepreneurs' rights and interests through the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35). These efforts align with the broader objectives of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and PuTERA35, aimed at empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs and MSMEs in innovation and digitalisation.
