Kajang:Kajang and Putrajaya: The Immigration Department (JIM) has disrupted an illegal transport service suspected of operating for undocumented immigrants, arresting a total of 60 individuals during a special operation conducted in Kajang and Putrajaya.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation led to the interception and detention of seven vans carrying foreign passengers on September 21. Among the arrested were 53 passengers and seven drivers.

The investigation revealed that six of the detained vans were driven by foreign nationals, specifically five Bangladeshi men and an Indonesian man. Additionally, a Malaysian man, who was both the driver and owner of the seventh van, was also taken into custody. None of the foreign drivers had valid travel documents or driving licenses, with some holding only probationary licenses.

Preliminary findings indicated that these foreign drivers were allegedly paid between RM1,600 and RM1,800 monthly by Malaysian van owners to provide transportation services. This service was reportedly used by the foreign nationals to commute to workplaces around Kampung Dato' Abu Bakar Baginda, Kajang, and Putrajaya for a monthly fee of about RM100.

The seized vans were allegedly used in violation of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and the drivers are being investigated under Section 55E of the same Act. JIM is currently seeking the van owners for further investigation and necessary actions.

The passengers detained include 12 men and 32 women from Indonesia, eight Bangladeshi men, and a Myanmar national, all of whom allegedly lacked valid travel documentation. The arrested individuals, aged between 18 and 59, have been transferred to the Putrajaya Immigration Depot.
