Kuala lumpur: The International Construction Week (ICW) and BuildXpo Malaysia 2026, themed "Beyond Limits," is set to take place from November 10 to 12, 2026, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). ICW Borneo 2026 is scheduled earlier, from May 12 to 13, 2026, in Kota Kinabalu, providing a platform for regional participation before the main event in Kuala Lumpur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event is hosted by the Works Ministry and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia and managed by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd. It will focus on innovation, digitalisation, and collaboration within the construction industry. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan highlighted the evolving landscape of the construction sector, which now faces increased complexity, rising costs, and demands for a future-ready workforce.
He emphasized the necessity of digital tools and emerging construction technologies for competitiveness and resilience. Since its inception in 1999, ICW has grown into Malaysia's premier annual construction industry platform, showcasing innovations, exchanging knowledge, and fostering partnerships.
Ahmad Maslan noted the success of previous editions, with the 2025 event attracting nearly 16,000 industry professionals and generating approximately RM1.41 billion in potential sales. He described ICW Borneo 2026 as a statement of inclusion and progress, aiming to elevate regional participation and strengthen industry capabilities beyond the Klang Valley.
Richard Teo, executive chairman of Qube Integrated Malaysia, stated that ICW and BuildXpo have evolved into key platforms for industry collaboration, emphasizing innovation, technical knowledge exchange, and industry recognition. He stressed the importance of adapting businesses in a rapidly changing construction landscape and reinforcing Malaysia's position as a regional hub for innovation.
A significant highlight for 2026 is the co-location of the Glasstech Asia and Fenestration Asia (GAFA) exhibition with ICW and BuildXpo at MITEC. This strategic collaboration involves CIDB Malaysia, Qube Integrated Malaysia, and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, the organiser of GAFA. MMI Asia CEO Michael Wilton pointed out the growing demand for advanced glazing and intelligent facades driven by infrastructure projects and smart building initiatives across Southeast Asia. He emphasized Kuala Lumpur's role as an ideal hub for this alignment, supported by Malaysia's focus on infrastructure and urban growth.
