ICW Borneo 2025 Sets Stage for Construction Innovation and Sustainability

Kuching: The International Construction Week (ICW) Borneo 2025, which kicks off today, signifies a pivotal moment in promoting industry excellence and uniting key stakeholders to delve into innovative ideas and technologies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi emphasized that the event, themed “Innovative Construction for a Sustainable Future,” is more than a mere industry convention. It serves as a strategic gathering of minds, markets, and missions, aiming to reimagine construction in the context of climate change, rapid urbanisation, technological disruption, and the urgent need for sustainable development across Southeast Asia.

The event was officially inaugurated by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. Nanta detailed the Construction Sustainability Summit as one of the flagship components of ICW Borneo 2025, featuring insightful sessions with industry leaders and policymakers. The summit will cover topics such as “The Hydrogen Revolution: Sarawak’s Pathway to a Green Energy Economy,” “Driving Sustainable Growth Through Clean Power,” “Innovations in Construction and ESG Strategies,” and “Green and Innovative Construction Materials.”

In addition, the BuildXpo Borneo will feature over 20 organisations showcasing state-of-the-art construction technologies, materials, and systems designed to meet Southeast Asia’s evolving infrastructure needs. Nanta noted an increase in international participation, particularly from China, highlighting the growing ASEAN-China collaboration in infrastructure and technology exchange.

The event will also include strategic seminars and technical meetings on topics like Construction Revolution 4.0 (CR4.0), facility management certification, and the ASEAN Build Construction Working Group Meeting. These forums are not only for showcasing advancements but also for fostering connections and driving transformation, crucial for developing a more integrated, future-oriented ASEAN construction ecosystem.

ICW Borneo 2025 is a collaborative effort by the Works Ministry, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
