Husband and Wife Fatally Injured in Car-Lorry Collision on Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing

Kluang:A tragic accident on Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing resulted in the deaths of a husband and wife, with their two daughters seriously injured. The collision involved a car and a lorry at Kilometre 72.5 this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kluang police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh reported that the crash occurred between a lorry driven by a 34-year-old man from Kluang, traveling towards Kahang, and a Hyundai Matrix coming from the opposite direction. Investigations suggest that the Hyundai, driven by a 54-year-old local man, lost control due to slippery road conditions, veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the lorry.

The driver of the car and his 49-year-old wife suffered severe injuries from the crash and were declared dead at the scene. Their daughters, aged 24 and 21, who were seated in the rear, sustained critical injuries and are currently being treated in the emergency red zone at Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang. The lorry driver was unharmed in the incident. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Kluang Fire and Rescue Station commander Jusoh Mohd Salleh stated that they received an emergency call at 4.53 pm. Six firefighters, along with a Fire Rescue Tender and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, were dispatched to the scene. The victims in the car, identified as Mislan Osman and his wife Nor Azilah A Rahman, had to be extricated using special equipment before being pronounced dead.
