Kuala Lumpur:Health Summit Asia (HSA) 2027 is poised to expand Malaysia's access to healthcare technologies and solutions, strengthening its delivery system while connecting the country with the broader regional health ecosystem.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib emphasized that this exposure could help Malaysia identify technologies that better meet local needs. This is particularly relevant as the healthcare system must cater not only to large urban populations but also to suburban and rural communities.
Hanifah Hajar expressed hope that technology would lead to more integrated healthcare systems, allowing multiple basic medical checks to be conducted with a single device, thereby reducing costs and freeing medical staff to concentrate on critical healthcare tasks like proper diagnosis and analysis.
During her keynote address, Hanifah Hajar stated that HSA 2027 aligns well with the Health Ministry's priorities. Its theme, "One Ecosystem. One Pulse. Shaping the Future of Health Economy," underscores the necessity for collaboration across the healthcare sector. She highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by non-communicable diseases, citing the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023, which reported significant percentages of Malaysian adults dealing with diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
Hanifah Hajar also mentioned that healthcare reform would require partnerships across various sectors, including technology and pharmaceuticals. The RM46.5 billion allocation to the Health Ministry under Budget 2026 reflects the government's commitment to improving healthcare access and infrastructure.
Scheduled for May 5 to 7, 2027, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, HSA 2027 will feature Market Access Clinics designed to assist international and regional delegates in creating structured market-entry plans for Malaysia and Asia. These plans will focus on regulation, hospital adoption, and distribution partnerships.
Organized by Qube Integrated Malaysia with support from the Health Ministry, the summit will include a two-day conference, trade exhibition, Market Access Clinics, Industry Spotlight, and business-to-business meetings. Qube deputy managing director Kevin Teo noted that HSA 2027 aims to deepen regional engagement, enhance cross-sector collaboration, and create meaningful business opportunities. The summit expects to attract 120 exhibitors from 10 countries, covering areas such as digital health, medical devices, pharmaceutical innovation, nutrition, and health policy.
Teo added that the Market Access Clinics would offer small-group sessions on regulatory pathways and distributor selection, helping companies navigate the Malaysian healthcare market effectively. HSA 2027 is designed to guide participants from discovering solutions and exchanging knowledge to understanding market requirements and identifying practical entry pathways into new markets.
