Tasik banding: The closure and obstruction of hiking trails at Gunung Gerah, Kelantan, led to a prolonged delay for six hikers who were eventually found safe last night. The hikers had participated in the Trans Gerah Expedition on August 29 and encountered significant obstacles during their journey.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Datuk Sayani Saidon explained that the trails at Gunung Beratoh and Gunung Sepat had been closed due to disuse, which contributed to the hikers' delay. The hikers faced challenges such as fallen trees, which further impeded their progress.

Sayani also highlighted the area's lack of communication coverage, which resulted in a loss of contact with the hikers and raised concerns among their families. A police report was subsequently lodged. The hikers eventually reached Bukit Bongok, where they were able to obtain a mobile phone signal, allowing them to contact their families and facilitate their safe rescue.

The group, consisting of Wan Ahmad Aslam Wan Zairudin, his wife Siti Zulaiha Norizan, their children Diya Raisha and Ahmad Raef, and mountain guides Shafiee Sidek and Hazman Mamat, successfully made their way out of Pos Kemar at 10:20 am via Jeti Trojan. They were found safe last night and were taken for a health check-up at the Pos Kemar Health Clinic.

The hikers were reported missing after failing to exit the forest by the scheduled date of September 3. Their families had lodged a police report on September 6, prompting search efforts that ultimately led to their safe return.
