Kuala lumpur: The HAWANA Fun Walk 2026, organized as part of the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) celebration, is now open for public registration until May 15. This first-time event, managed by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), is set to occur at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa on June 14. It aims to unite the community and media practitioners while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin emphasized that the HAWANA celebration is not solely a media-centric event but a platform fostering unity and solidarity within the industry. She remarked on the dual role of delivering news and supporting public health initiatives, highlighting the Fun Walk's reflection of media practitioners' active and positive spirit.
Nur-ul Afida, also the HAWANA 2026 Working Committee chairperson, noted that the event opens opportunities for the public to engage with the media industry more closely. She expressed that each step in the Fun Walk symbolizes cooperation and harmony within the country's media sector.
Interested participants can register by scanning the QR code on the official poster or through the website https://hawana.my/hawanafunwalk/. With limited slots, early registration is encouraged. A registration fee of RM30 includes a chance to win lucky draw prizes, a T-shirt, medal, and an exclusive bag, with collection scheduled at Wisma Bernama on June 13.
Apart from the Fun Walk, the HAWANA 2026 celebration, organized by the Ministry of Communications and implemented by Bernama, includes various events such as a media forum, pantun festival, exhibitions, and a sports carnival. The celebration will culminate in Penang on June 20, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
