Kota kinabalu: Unofficial results of the 17th Sabah State Election as of 10.05 pm show that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has won 29 seats. The Sabah State Legislative Assembly consists of 73 seats, and a simple majority of 37 seats is needed to form the state government.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Parti Warisan has secured victory in 18 seats, while Barisan Nasional (BN) has won nine. Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) each claimed two seats, while United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) won one seat each. Additionally, Independent candidates emerged victorious in five seats.
The results also show Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor retaining the Sulaman seat, Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal holding onto Senallang, and UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick defending the Kadamaian seat. Meanwhile, political veterans Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Tan Sri Anifah Aman and former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia faced defeats in Bongawan and Pintasan, respectively.
In a surprising development, DAP did not secure any victories in the eight seats it contested.
