Kuala Lumpur: The MADANI Government is actively seeking input and suggestions from various quarters to bolster the nation’s online ecosystem, as stated by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Emphasizing the importance of online business conduct, Fahmi highlighted the need to safeguard user interests while promoting fair and competitive practices in the digital economy.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed these views in a Facebook post, underscoring the government’s commitment to protecting users. He also stressed the significance of ensuring equitable competition within the digital landscape.
Fahmi, serving as the MADANI Government spokesman, disclosed that he received a memorandum from Petaling Jaya Member of Parliament Lee Chean Chung. This proposal, handed over outside Dewan Rakyat, advocates for a comprehensive mechanism to oversee digital business activities.
The proposal emerges in response to the swift advancement of social media and e-commerce platforms like WeChat, Xiaohongshu, Shopee Live, and TikTok Shop within the country.
