Kuala lumpur: The savings measures announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim amid global economic uncertainty reflect the MADANI Government's commitment to prioritising public welfare, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the move also aims to ensure government funds are used wisely to meet public needs, including in the Federal Territories. Hannah Yeoh expressed her support for the Prime Minister's directive and emphasized the significance of these cost-cutting measures to prioritize the people of Kuala Lumpur and the Federal Territories. She reiterated the MADANI Government's dedication to being people-centered in its approach.
Hannah Yeoh shared her views with reporters after attending the Aidilfitri donation event organized by Ehsan Group of Companies in partnership with Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan. The event witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan's CEO Dr. Abdul Basir V. Kunhimohammed, Ehsan Group's founder Datuk Abdul Hamid P.V Abdu, and its general manager Abduk Gafur Suleiman, along with the local community.
During the event, Hannah Yeoh, who also chairs Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, distributed RM150 each and 100 bags of rice to 200 recipients. The beneficiaries included orphans, tahfiz students, and asnaf families from the Segambut parliamentary constituency.
Abdul Hamid highlighted that the donation continued the company's 32-year tradition of assisting those in need. The initiative has expanded beyond Segambut to include states such as Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Melaka, and Penang, with support from government and non-government agencies.
The Prime Minister's announcement, made yesterday, emphasized that ministries, agencies, and government-linked companies would forgo Aidilfitri open houses this year to save costs amid ongoing global economic uncertainty. Additionally, ministers and officials have been instructed to limit overseas trips, except for pre-scheduled or essential ones.
