Kuala lumpur: The government will continue to focus on improving dilapidated military and police quarters to ensure the comfort of security personnel, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized that several improvements to the quarters have been made under the plans currently being discussed.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar stated that actions have been taken regarding the police and army quarters, with a more focused approach in the future. He highlighted that in previous years, RM1 billion was spent on renovating severely dilapidated quarters for military and police personnel. The announcement was made after a meeting with the staff of the Home Ministry and the Ihya' Ramadan programme.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, his deputy Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican were also present at the function. During the event, Saifuddin Nasution requested that the Treasury secretary-general consider allocating additional funds for the purpose in the upcoming Budget.
Prime Minister Anwar further stressed that the responsibility of developing the country does not rest solely with one party. He noted that the aspect of security is often incorrectly seen as solely the responsibility of the police, emphasizing that it is a collective responsibility. He urged everyone to use the month of Ramadan as a time for self-improvement and to enhance performance.
Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), and other enforcement agencies for their efficiency. He also reminded them not to become complacent, encouraging them to continually evaluate and improve their performance to prevent regression.
