Kuala lumpur: The National Unity Ministry has been directed to organize a special event this National Month to honor the legacy of Malaysia’s second Prime Minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to acknowledge his significant contributions to the nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister and MADANI Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil revealed that the proposal was made during a recent Cabinet meeting. The meeting also highlighted the 50th anniversary of Tun Abdul Razak’s passing, which is observed today.
Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasized the importance of remembering such pivotal figures and noted that it has been customary to honor a notable personality or statesman every year during National Month. “The Prime Minister has requested the National Unity Ministry to prepare a special event to commemorate the services of the late Tun Abdul Razak, to be held throughout National Month leading up to National Day,” he stated at a press conference following the Cabinet meeting.
Tun Abdul Razak, known as the Father of Development, served as Malaysia’s second Prime Minister from September 1970 until his death in 1976. He passed away in London on January 14, 1976, due to leukemia, at the age of 54.
