GoGiggers Programme Enhances Financial Well-Being of Riders

Kuala Lumpur:Participating riders in the GoGiggers Financial Literacy Programme reported a 34.4 percent improvement in their financial well-being, with 74 percent beginning emergency savings during its initial phase in Peninsular Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adnan Zaylani, deputy governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, stated that participants accumulated over RM68,000 in savings and RM40,000 in investments through the programme. Following its success, the programme expanded to Sabah and Sarawak, where similar improvements in financial resilience and savings behavior were observed.

The GoGiggers Financial Literacy Programme, delivered through collaboration with Financial Education Network (FEN) members and partners such as The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK), Employees Provident Fund (EPF), and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), was tailored to the unique profiles, circumstances, and needs of gig workers. It provided practical financial guidance and sustained support to help participants apply the knowledge within their own situations.

Adnan also highlighted the importance of Financial Literacy Month 2026, themed 'Money Smart When It Matters Most,' as a chance for Malaysians to take practical steps towards improved financial well-being. He noted that financial preparedness is about being ready to respond to life's opportunities and challenges according to individual circumstances and aspirations.

The Financial Literacy Month roadshow, which began on September 21 in Perak, will conclude on October 21 in Johor. It includes parallel programmes in locations such as Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, as well as Kuching and Samarahan in Sarawak. The official launch took place at Sasana Kijang, marking the start of the nationwide roadshow.
