GOF Seizes Ketum Leaves, Water In Raids In Machang, Tumpat

Machang: The Southeast Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) seized ketum leaves and water, with an estimated value of RM72,450, at two different locations yesterday. Its commander, SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain, reported that the first seizure was carried out through Ops Mitra at a house in Kampung Hutan Kuin Hilir, Machang, at 12.45 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation led to the confiscation of 1,150 kilogrammes of ketum leaves and a Produa Alza car, with an estimated total value of RM61,000. A 29-year-old woman was detained for further action, and the case is being investigated under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952 and Section 108 (3)(F) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The second seizure took place at 3.30 pm by the Strike Force team of Company B, Battalion 7, through Ops Taring Wawasan at Jalan Bunohan, Tumpat. A search conducted on a Proton Iswara car revealed a bag containing 10 bottles of ketum water weighing 15 litres, estimated to be worth RM450. A 32-year-old male driver was also detained for investigation.

The authorities also seized the vehicle, valued at RM10,000, and a mobile phone, bringing the estimated total seizure to RM11,450. The case is being investigated under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
