GOF Seizes Frozen Food, Acquatic Animals Worth RM22,760 In Rantau Panjang

Rantau panjang: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized various types of frozen food as well as fish, prawns, and ornamental turtles suspected of being smuggled from a neighbouring country worth RM22,760 in an operation at the illegal Lan Bundle base near Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, GOF Southeast Brigade commander Ahmad Radzi Hussain stated that the seizure was conducted by members of the Strike Force/Tiger Platoon, Battalion 9, GOF through Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan at 6.30 pm. During a patrol in Kampung Lubok Gong, members observed a group of men unloading black plastic packages and styrofoam boxes from a boat into a vehicle on the riverbank.

Ahmad Radzi explained that all individuals involved managed to flee towards a neighbouring country by boat as soon as they detected the presence of the authorities. An inspection of the abandoned Proton Wira revealed 234 kilogrammes of frozen food and various aquatic animals believed to have been smuggled through illegal routes.

The seized items included 120 rasbora, 20 koi, 60 killifish, 45 nilem fish, several species of prawns, and 60 turtles. Ahmad Radzi mentioned that no arrests were made, and the case was transferred to the Rantau Panjang Customs for further action under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967.
