GOF Seizes Cigarettes Worth Over RM140,000 in Kota Bharu

Kuala lumpur: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized cigarettes with unpaid taxes worth RM148,276.80 in a raid on a house near Jalan Kuala Krai here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, GOF Southeast Brigade Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain stated that the raid was conducted around 10.30 pm by GOF Battalion 9 members with the assistance of Customs officials. Inspections at the premises revealed several boxes containing 80,000 white cigarettes and 2,160 clove cigarettes believed to be smuggled.

No arrests were made as the house was unoccupied during the raid, he said in a statement today. The seized items were sent to Komtak Pengkalan Kubor before being handed over to the Kelantan Customs enforcement division for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967, and further investigations to identify the house owner are ongoing, he added.
