Muhammad Irfan was recorded as no mark after failing to produce a legal throw alongside Cameroon's Lucien Wangba in a final featuring 13 athletes. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Australia's Matthew Denny claimed the gold medal with a throw of 67.73 metres while Jamaica's Fedrick Dacres took silver with a throw of 65.10 metres, and England's Lawrence Okoye completed the podium, securing the bronze with a throw of 64.45 metres. The result left Muhammad Irfan, who previously won the men's discus gold medal at seven consecutive SEA Games editions, without a place on the podium. In June, the 30-year-old improved his own national record with a throw of 62.87 metres at a competition in Veszprem, Hungary.
