Foreign Investors Return To Net Buying With RM11.1 Mln Net Inflows

Kuala lumpur: Foreign investors returned to net-buying after the previous week of net-selling, recording RM11.1 million in net inflows, MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB IB) said.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in its weekly Fund Flow Report, the investment bank noted that foreign institutions were net buyers on three out of five trading days during the week. The largest inflow was recorded on Friday at RM131.5 million, followed by Thursday with RM76.2 million, and Monday with a modest RM200,000.

The report highlighted that the top three sectors attracting net inflows from foreign institutions were financial services with RM216.5 million, healthcare at RM148 million, and transportation and logistics with RM107.4 million.

However, the report also pointed out that foreign outflows were noted on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Tuesday experiencing the largest daily net outflow at -RM167.8 million, followed by Wednesday at -RM29 million. The top three sectors that saw net foreign outflows were industrial products and services (-RM191.7 million), technology (-RM164 million), and plantation (-RM32.8 million).

Meanwhile, MBSB IB reported that local institutions returned to net buying after a three-week period of net-selling, recording RM48.1 million in net inflows. On the other hand, retailers shifted to net-selling after the previous week's net buying, marking net outflows of -RM59.1 million.

The investment bank further revealed that the average daily trading volume increased across the board. The average daily trading volumes of foreign and local institutions rose by 29.9 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively, while the volume for retailers declined by 5.6 percent.
