Gedung Raja Abdullah Set For December Reopening At New Site – S’gor Exco

Klang: Gedung Raja Abdullah is expected to reopen as the Tin Museum at a new site at the end of December this year after being closed for more than 10 years, the Selangor State Legislative Assembly was told today. State Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah stated that the reopening date is subject to the progress of ongoing restoration works and the upgrading process of the heritage building.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the State Executive Council (MMKN) meeting on February 11, 2026, agreed for the building to be relocated to a more suitable new site at Taman Bandar Diraja Klang, next to the Klang Keris Monument, and this was confirmed in an MMKN meeting on February 27. The current location of the building, next to the Klang Selatan district police headquarters, is considered less attractive to visitors due to limited parking facilities and traffic congestion in the area.

Borhan emphasized that relocating the building to a more strategic site would ensure the preservation of its heritage value and enhance its utility as a tourism and educational product for the community. He was responding to a question from Sallehen Mukhyi (PN-Sabak), who inquired about the latest status of Gedung Raja Abdullah, which has remained closed for over a decade.

To ensure an effective reopening, Borhan mentioned that the state government, through the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (PADAT), is implementing a comprehensive approach. This includes the physical conservation of the building, the preparation of quality exhibition content, and integrated promotion strategies with relevant agencies.

Furthermore, the museum will be integrated into the Klang heritage tourism route, along with other attractions like the Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque and the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, to strengthen the local heritage tourism ecosystem. This approach is believed to not only revive the function of the historic building but also has the potential to make it an iconic and competitive heritage tourism product in Selangor.
