Gas Malaysia Commits To Make Positive Impact On Homeless And Urban Poor

Kuala Lumpur: Gas Malaysia Berhad (Gas Malaysia), a member of MMC Group, demonstrated its commitment to supporting underprivileged communities by distributing more than 200 food packs to the homeless and urban poor at the Medan Tuanku Transit Centre, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at supporting and empowering those in need. This food aid initiative marks the second consecutive year that Gas Malaysia has collaborated with Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI), reaffirming its commitment to addressing critical needs such as food security.

The final session of this three-part CSR initiative saw the participation of approximately 15 volunteers from Gas Malaysia. Gas Malaysia Group President and Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap expressed hope that the initiative would bring renewed hope to communities in need. ‘As a responsible company, it is our duty to support them by providing food to the homeless and urban poor,’ he said in the statement.

Gas Malaysia also aims to assist a total of 700 recipients throughout the programme while encouraging active staff participation as volunteers to make the initiative more meaningful. ‘This experience will raise awareness among Gas Malaysia employees, foster a culture of volunteerism, and strengthen our commitment to helping those in need,’ said Ahmad Hashimi.

The CSR programme aligns with Gas Malaysia’s four key pillars-Community, Sports, Environment, and Education-which serve as the foundation for ensuring the company’s business objectives remain in harmony with corporate social responsibility practices.
