Kuala lumpur: The Better SPM Brighter Future Programme is giving 1,600 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates from 40 secondary schools across Kuala Lumpur a valuable academic boost to prepare for their exams.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) and Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) chairman Hannah Yeoh announced that the free tuition programme was implemented to help students make more thorough preparations without burdening parents with the cost of extra classes. The initiative is funded by a RM276,200 contribution from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to YWP and is conducted in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territories Education Department.

The programme focuses on four key subjects: Bahasa Melayu, English, History, and Mathematics, aiming to enhance student preparedness and performance in these critical areas. The launch event took place at Sekolah Seni Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, where Yeoh highlighted the importance of providing academic support to students.

In a separate statement, Hannah Yeoh addressed concerns regarding cleanliness at public events, specifically mentioning the aftermath of the recent World Cup final screening at Dataran Merdeka. She emphasized that her comments were not meant as criticism but as an educational message to encourage the public to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness. Yeoh noted that Kuala Lumpur City Hall will continue to ensure that Dataran Merdeka remains accessible as a recreational space, underscoring the importance of using public spaces responsibly.
