Fourteen Arrested, 235 Summonses Issued in Temerloh Operation

Temerloh:A total of 14 individuals were arrested, and 235 summonses were issued for various offences during an integrated operation at the Temerloh Rest and Service area along the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 last night. The operation aimed to ensure compliance with traffic laws and vehicle safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Temerloh police chief ACP Mohd Nasyim Bahron stated that the four-hour operation, conducted from 8 pm, involved the Road Transport Department, Department of Environment, National Anti-Drugs Agency, and AFA Prime Bhd. Among those arrested, 10 tested positive for methamphetamine, and four were undocumented immigrants from Indonesia and Bangladesh.

Overall, 371 vehicles and 388 individuals were inspected. The operation led to 139 police summonses for offences such as registration number violations, speeding, and driving without a licence. Additionally, the Road Transport Department issued 96 P22 notices, while the Department of Environment issued various notices, including two compound notices and three for retesting.

The operation was deemed crucial due to road accident statistics in Pahang, which reported 2,161 cases and 44 deaths from January to September this year. Motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for the highest fatalities. Future operations will be conducted periodically in districts with Rest and Service facilities, focusing on locations chosen for safety and operational suitability.
