Kuala terengganu: A Form Three student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Padang Midin was tragically killed in a road accident on Jalan Kepong this morning, marking what was supposed to be his first day back at school. The student, identified as Noor Hazimi Noor Hashim, succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the incident, as confirmed by Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred when Noor Hazimi's Honda EX5 motorcycle, coming from the direction of Pengadang Baru Caltex petrol station, was hit by a Perodua Axia. The car was traveling from Kampung Serada towards Titian Baru, Tepoh, Kuala Nerus.
Police received a call at 7.55 am from a concerned citizen reporting the accident on Jalan Kepong. Initial findings suggest that the collision happened as Noor Hazimi's motorcycle was proceeding straight when it was struck by the oncoming Axia, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. The driver of the Axia car, however, emerged unscathed.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Meanwhile, the victim's father, Noor Hashim Puteh, 55, shared that his son was returning home to Kampung Belukar Sukai after refueling at a petrol station about five kilometers away. Noor Hazimi had intended to pick up his 14-year-old sister from home so they could ride to school together on the motorcycle.
