Focus on PDRM Personnel Welfare, Says Dr Wan Azizah

Kuala lumpur: The welfare of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) members should continue to be prioritized in alignment with the concerns of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, stated Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Wan Azizah, who is the wife of the Prime Minister and the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, emphasized the importance of appreciating the services of security forces. She noted that PDRM members often face risks, work pressure, and sacrifice family time to maintain public order. Speaking at the Yayasan Seri Negara and Zakat Wakalah PBLT Sdn Bhd Donation Ceremony, she stressed the need to support PDRM personnel's welfare as desired by the Prime Minister.

Also in attendance were Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Yayasan Seri Negara patron Tan Sri Dr Mazlan Lazim. Dr Wan Azizah highlighted the role of zakat wakalah in easing the financial burden on PDRM personnel, covering daily expenses, children's education, and basic family needs, particularly during challenging economic times.

Dr Wan Azizah also discussed the significance of zakat, noting its dual role as a worship requirement and a mechanism for social balance, ensuring the needy are not marginalized, especially during Ramadan.

Meanwhile, Mohd Khalid reported that a total of 200 asnaf recipients from PDRM received aid, with 100 from Bukit Aman and the remainder from Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters and Cheras district police headquarters. Each recipient received cash assistance and a food basket, while three individuals also received wheelchairs.

Mohd Khalid expressed gratitude to Yayasan Seri Negara and PBLT Sdn Bhd for their enduring commitment to the welfare of PDRM personnel, acknowledging their support through zakat and social development programs for over three years. He highlighted the benefits of strategic collaboration between NGOs, the private sector, and law enforcement agencies for society, including the police asnaf group.
