Kuala lumpur: The number of flood evacuees in Perak, Pahang, and Selangor has increased this morning, while the situation in six other states is improving as more people have been able to return home.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in Perak, the number of evacuees rose to 6,420 individuals from 1,917 families, compared to the previous count of 6,375 from 1,973 families. These individuals are currently sheltered in 43 temporary relief centres across six districts, with Hilir Perak recording the highest number at 1,961 people.
In Pahang, evacuee numbers increased to 1,390 people from 468 families, up from 1,272 people from 428 families. Relief efforts continue across 37 centres in six districts, including Lipis and Kuantan, where river levels have exceeded danger marks.
Selangor also saw a slight increase, with evacuees rising to 3,646 people from 1,042 families. The Social Welfare Department’s Infobencana website noted that 35 relief centres remain operational in key areas such as Kuala Selangor and Sepang.
In contrast, Terengganu is witnessing a decline in evacuee numbers due to favourable weather conditions. The JKM InfoBencana portal shows a decrease from 6,521 to 5,856 people currently displaced, primarily in Kuala Terengganu and Marang.
Kelantan experienced a reduction in evacuees to 1,850 people this morning, with water levels of several major rivers still posing a concern, as some have reached warning levels.
Kedah continues to see a decrease in affected individuals, now at 1,072 people from 312 families, with evacuees being housed in 11 PPS across the region.
In Perlis, the number of evacuees has fallen to 4,266, while Negeri Sembilan and Melaka report 253 and 62 evacuees, respectively, as numbers stabilize in these areas.
