Female Student Arrested After Baby’s Body Discovered in Kuala Langat Hostel

Police: Police have arrested a female student in connection with the discovery of a baby's body wrapped in cloth at a waste collection area of a hostel block at a higher learning institution (IPT) in Kuala Langat yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi stated that the teenage suspect was apprehended after a report was made by a local male informant who discovered the baby's body at around 12.20 pm.

Supt Mohd Akmalrizal indicated that the suspect is believed to be the mother of the deceased infant and is currently in custody to aid in the investigation under Section 318 of the Penal Code. This section of the law addresses the concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body. If found guilty, the suspect could face a penalty of up to two years in prison, a fine, or both.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to report to the nearest police station. Alternatively, individuals can contact the Kuala Langat district police headquarters (IPD) operations room at 03-3187 2222 to provide assistance in the ongoing investigation.
