The Department of Federal Territories (JWP) is targeting 50,000 participants nationwide to join its Pasport 50WP programme which began from Oct 1 to Feb 25, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The Pasport 50WP programme is a roadmap challenge which invites the people to explore 50 historical checkpoints, unsung places and hidden gems in the three Federal Territories namely Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The programme is among the main content of the 50th anniversary of Federal Territories celebration next year.
JWP director-general Datuk Noridah Abdul Rahim in a statement to Bernama said the aim of the programe is to highlight the 50 years of excellence and promote love and a sense of belonging among residents to the beauty, uniqueness and diversity of Federal Territories.
“The vision of the programme is to strengthen further relations among members of the community in Federal Territories while promoting growth and development of the local tourism sector.
“It is also encourages the community to be actively involved in enjoying the well-being and progress achieve in half century which is a contribiution of each individual in the territories,” she said.
Noridah hoped the Pasport 50WP programme could create a continuous momentum for the tourism sector in Federal Territories.
“When domestic tourism improves, the local economy will also receive the benefits, especially to the sectors related to hospitality, food, and services.
“It also hoped to increase public awareness of the history and heritage of Federal Territories so that more people, especially those living outside the Federal Territories, visit and explore the various attractions in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan,” he said.
