Fazzrudin Elected Uncontested as New FAS President

Kuching: Kuching City Football Club president Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman has been elected to the post of Sarawak Football Association (FAS) president without opposition at the association’s Annual General Meeting today. Fazzrudin will assume the position for the 2025-2027 term, succeeding Abang Zulkarnain Abang Abdul Rahman.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fazzrudin’s uncontested election followed the last-minute withdrawal of another candidate, Dr. Mohd Shafiq Abdullah. In remarks to reporters following the meeting, Fazzrudin outlined his agenda, which includes enhancing football at the grassroots level through the organization of the Sarawak Premier League.

The league is planned to involve teams from various parts of Sarawak and is intended to be an annual event. Fazzrudin expressed hopes that the league would foster the development of quality players who could potentially be recruited by teams in the Malaysian League or even international leagues. He emphasized the desire to see players from Sarawak compete at higher levels of football.

Fazzrudin aims to launch the league by September, noting that preparations might require up to three months. Additionally, at the same meeting, the position of FAS deputy president was secured unopposed by Datuk Hamzah Brahim.
