Farmer’s Death in Jerlun Linked to Machete Attack by Brother-in-Law

Jerlun: A 45-year-old farmer is believed to have been killed following an alleged machete attack by his brother-in-law in Kampung Pida 3 this evening.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kubang Pasu District Police chief Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim reported that a member of the public alerted the police about a fight between two men at approximately 7:05 pm. Upon arriving at the scene, the police arrested the suspect at his residence and confiscated a 30-centimetre machete. The victim’s body was discovered in a nearby padi field.

Before the arrest, the suspect, who was armed with the machete, attempted to attack the police but eventually surrendered after a 15-minute negotiation. Supt Mohd Radzi confirmed that neither the victim nor the suspect had any prior criminal records, and the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.

The victim’s body has been transported to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination. The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Mohd Radzi also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the incident.
