Melaka: International film actress Fan Bingbing has hinted at a return to Melaka in September for some “new work.” She shared this news briefly with reporters at Seri Negeri after being conferred the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (D.P.S.M) award, which carries the title ‘Datuk,’ during the 76th birthday celebrations of Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Alir Rustam.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fan was appointed as the Melaka Friendship Tourism Ambassador last year. Her three-day visit in June 2024 significantly boosted the state’s tourism sector, generating 1.2 billion searches about her and Melaka.

Fan has a substantial presence on social media, with about 63 million followers on Weibo and 4.1 million followers on Instagram. She is widely associated with Chinese culture globally and has an impressive acting portfolio, including roles in Chinese films, the Hollywood superhero film “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” and various French and Korean films.

In addition to her acting achievements, Fan appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 2017 and was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People.
