FAMA Expands Kopiesatu To Hospitals

Kuala lumpur: Kopiesatu, the coffee shop initiative run by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), is expanding to hospitals to create a more relaxed atmosphere for staff and visitors. FAMA director-general Faisal Iswardi Ismail said the target is to operate a total of 13 Kopiesatu outlets in hospitals over the next four years.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Faisal Iswardi Ismail mentioned that Kopiesatu currently operates in hospitals in Sungai Buloh and Cyberjaya, Selangor; Taiping, Perak; and Kota Bharu, Kelantan, with another outlet set to open in Kangar, Perlis, by the end of October. He explained the outlets were opened following requests from the hospitals and received encouraging responses from visitors and coffee lovers.

Faisal Iswardi expressed hopes that Kopiesatu outlets in the hospitals can provide a space for staff and visitors to rest while enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere with a pleasant coffee aroma. He stated this during the opening ceremony for Kopiesatu's 31st outlet.

The director-general further explained that this approach is part of FAMA's broader effort to expand the Kopiesatu concept not only in supermarkets and business premises but also at strategic locations, including hospitals. Kopiesatu outlets have operated since 2001 and, as of July 2026, have generated nearly RM5 million in sales through 31 branches nationwide.

He noted a significant increase in sales for the six outlets across Negeri Sembilan as of July 31, showing a rise to RM324,493 from RM177,781 last year. The plan is to open nine more outlets nationwide in the future.

Regarding coffee bean supply, Faisal Iswardi stated that FAMA is contracting farmers in Kampung Toboh, Ranau, Sabah, to produce green coffee beans as the main supply source for Kopiesatu outlets, helping boost local farmers' incomes.
