Fahmi Extends Condolences to Family of Popular 90s Singer Sheqal

Kuala Lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil extended his condolences to the family of the late Sheqal, a popular 90s singer who passed away today. Fahmi reflected on Sheqal’s influence during his childhood, noting the singer’s frequent appearances on television and radio.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sheqal, whose real name was Shaharim Salehuddin, was known for his unique voice and emotionally expressive songs that resonated with audiences. Fahmi shared his memories of Sheqal on Facebook, expressing his sorrow at the loss of another figure in the entertainment industry. He also offered prayers for Sheqal, hoping for his soul to be blessed and placed among the righteous.

Sheqal, aged 60, succumbed to pneumonia complications at 12.31 pm at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. In recent years, he had been wheelchair-bound due to suffering four strokes since 2020, with the most recent occurring three years ago.
