Kuala lumpur: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) cruised into the quarter-finals of the 2026/2027 FA Cup after thrashing UM-Damansara United 10-0 in their round-of-16 second-leg match at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium tonight. The emphatic home victory gave the Southern Tigers a 14-1 aggregate win, following their 4-1 advantage from the first leg last week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the hosts needed just five minutes to break the deadlock when Eddy Israfilov neatly headed home a cross from Manuel Hidalgo. JDT doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when Juan Diego Molina Martinez, also known as Stoichkov, calmly slotted the ball past UM-Damansara United goalkeeper Muhammad Azfar Arif Mohd Sukri. Stuart Wilkin added a third in the 32nd minute, putting JDT 3-0 up at the break.
JDT goalkeeper Christian Abad had a quiet first 45 minutes, comfortably handling the visitors' sole shot on target. Stoichkov wasted no time in the second half, bagging his second goal of the night in the 48th minute with a strike from inside the penalty box. Muhammad Daniesh Amirruddin made it 5-0 in the 56th minute with a low drive into the bottom left corner.
The match saw a brief moment of tension in the 63rd minute when Hidalgo was shown a yellow card for a foul. JDT continued their relentless assault as Wilkin netted his second in the 75th minute off an Ignacio Mendez back-heel, before Shahab Zaheditabar blasted a shot into the top right corner two minutes later. Israfilov then produced a spectacular long-range effort from outside the box in the 80th minute, leaving Azfar Arif rooted to the spot.
Daniesh scored his second of the night with a powerful 86th-minute header from another Hidalgo cross, before Shahab capped off JDT's evening with a firm header in stoppage time (90th minute) to seal the 10-0 rout.
Meanwhile, Kuching City FC also booked their spot in the quarter-finals after thrashing Kelantan Red Warrior (KRW) 5-1 in their round-of-16 tie at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium tonight. Kuching City opened the scoring through Dylan Wenzel-Halls in the 10th minute before a skillful finish from Safawi Rasid doubled their lead in the 29th minute. In the second half, Ronald Ngah demonstrated his clinical finishing with a brace, netting in the 53rd and 71st minutes to put the match comfortably beyond reach. KRW pulled a goal back through Mazwan Che Mat in the 67th minute, but Kaishu Yamazaki capped off a dominant display for Kuching City with a fifth goal in the 80th minute.
In another match, Star City FC also advanced to the quarter-finals with a 4-2 aggregate victory over Kedah FA after securing a 2-0 second-leg win at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar tonight.
