F1 Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang Boosts Malaysia’s Global Standing

Sepang:The successful hosting of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit has enhanced Malaysia's international reputation, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister noted that the event provided local fans with the opportunity to experience the excitement of Formula 1 racing in Malaysia once again. It also presented significant economic prospects for local entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Anwar expressed his gratitude to Bahrain for the collaboration that made this event possible and hoped for continued strong relations between the two nations. He shared these sentiments alongside a highlight video of the event on his Facebook page, where local fans voiced their appreciation, particularly highlighting the accessibility of tickets starting at RM200.

He also thanked everyone involved in organizing the event, which created memorable experiences for both Malaysians and international F1 enthusiasts.

Malaysia was confirmed as the host for the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix from October 2 to 4, following an agreement made in July involving Formula 1, the International Automobile Federation, and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain. This marked the return of the event to Sepang after a nine-year hiatus.

The arrangement was facilitated by the strong relationship between the Malaysian and Bahraini monarchs, Sultan Ibrahim and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The governments worked together to ensure the race's inclusion on the 2026 F1 calendar, following its previous cancellation due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
