Kuala lumpur: Hosting the Formula 1 (F1) Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit this October is anticipated to generate economic benefits for local communities, including petty traders, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that the MADANI Government is committed to ensuring that the economic advantages of hosting such a prestigious event extend beyond large corporations, hotels, and restaurants. The aim is to create business opportunities for petty traders in the Sepang area, allowing them to earn an income during the event.
Prime Minister Anwar shared these insights at the Temu Anwar program, attended by around 2,000 Form Six and polytechnic students from across Negeri Sembilan. He highlighted that the announcement of the race has already led to increased hotel bookings in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, benefiting the tourism and hospitality sectors. Preparations are being coordinated with various agencies to ensure smooth execution of the event.
The government is negotiating with Bahrain Prime Minister Prince Salman Hamad Al Khalifa for special ticket prices for college and higher education students under the MADANI F1 Ticket initiative. Anwar explained that ticket prices start at USD100 and efforts are being made to make them more accessible to students.
In addition to economic benefits, the government plans to showcase Malaysia's cultural performances to F1 spectators and train hundreds of volunteers, including Lower Form Six students, to assist during the event.
During his speech, Anwar urged students to appreciate Malaysia's diversity and avoid political influences that promote racial division. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and respecting the rights of all communities while safeguarding the position of the Malays under the Federal Constitution. Anwar called for vigilance to prevent racial issues from being exploited as political tools, highlighting the necessity of embracing all Malaysians as one family.
