Bera:An excavator operator drowned after the machine he was using overturned during cleaning work at Tasik Bera this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bera district police chief Supt Zulkiflee Nazir reported that the incident was brought to their attention at around 2.10 pm. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Alief Daniel Haqim Abdullah. Another worker, 28-year-old Muhammad Aiman Fikri Mohd Azhar, survived the incident.

Zulkiflee explained that there were two workers present at the time of the accident. One managed to escape while the other was trapped inside the excavator.

Pahang Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Mohd Salahuddin Isa stated that the victim's body was discovered trapped in the cabin of the excavator and was extricated at 4.10 pm. The victim was unconscious when brought ashore and was subsequently pronounced dead by health personnel at the scene.

The body has been sent to the hospital for an autopsy.
