Kuala Lumpur: Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has shown moral clarity and courage on Palestine while speaking out fearlessly against dispossession, occupation, and genocide, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister emphasized that Turkiye’s support has gone beyond words, being tangible, diplomatic, and steadfast.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar praised Erdogan’s resolute stance on Palestine during a public lecture by Erdogan. He noted that while others have hesitated, Erdogan has ensured that support for Palestine translates into meaningful action. The global focus on the issue has been met with Erdogan’s unwavering commitment.
United States President Donald Trump recently announced plans for the US to take over the Gaza Strip, alongside a proposal for the permanent resettlement of Palestinians outside the enclave to promote economic development. This proposal has been widely condemned by international media, with many labeling it as ‘ethnic cleansing’ and a ‘war crime.’ Countries such as Jordan, Egypt, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and China have strongly rejected the proposal.
On the geopolitical front, Anwar highlighted Erdogan’s role in positioning Turkiye as a global power and a trusted mediator in Middle East and European affairs. He remarked that Turkiye under Erdogan does not merely react to events but actively shapes them, attributing this to Erdogan’s understanding of history’s preference for the bold.
Anwar also discussed Turkiye’s technological advancements, describing the success of Bayraktar drones as an industrial triumph. He mentioned projects like the TOGG electric vehicle, advancements in space technology, and developments in artificial intelligence as evidence of Turkiye’s embrace of liberation and freedom, moving beyond past limitations.
Earlier, Erdogan was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Relations by Universiti Malaya in recognition of his contributions to global diplomacy and international negotiations. Erdogan arrived in Malaysia for a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Prime Minister.
