EPMS Partners with SINOPEC SLT and ICSB for Offshore Oil and Gas Projects


Kuala Lumpur: Eastern Pacific Marine Services Sdn Bhd (EPMS), a subsidiary of EPIC Bhd, has entered into a strategic partnership with SINOPEC Heavy Lifting and Transportation Co. Ltd. (SINOPEC SLT) and Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd (ICSB), the investment arm of Yayasan Sabah Group. The collaboration is set to explore upstream and downstream oil and gas opportunities in Malaysia, focusing particularly on projects off the coast of Sabah. This partnership will leverage the parties’ technical expertise, operational capabilities, and regional insights to deliver value-driven solutions and support shared growth in the oil and gas sector.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, the tripartite agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by EPIC CEO Dr. Muhtar Suhaili, SINOPEC SLT general manager Liu Han, and ICSB executive chairman Datuk Jasnih Daya. Jasnih expressed gratitude to EPMS and SHLTC for their confidence and highlighted ICSB’s 30 percent stake in the collaboration. He emphasized the importance of this venture in promoting sustainable growth and operational excellence within the industry.



Dr. Muhtar noted that the partnership is aligned with Malaysia’s focus on competitive oil and gas projects, including responsible Engineering, Preparation, Removal, and Restoration (EPRR) services for offshore decommissioning. He stated that the collaboration is not just about project execution but also reflects a shared commitment to excellence, integrity, talent development, and sustainable growth. The partnership aims to combine ICSB’s regional expertise, SHLTC’s global capacity, and EPIC’s proven track record in marine services and onshore disposal to meet the complex demands of offshore facility projects.



SINOPEC SLT’s vice-president Guo Zhong highlighted the significance of the offshore platform decommissioning project as a benchmark for sustainable practices in the global energy transition. He affirmed the company’s commitment to utilizing technical expertise and project management excellence to ensure smooth collaboration with Malaysian partners. Zhong emphasized that the partnership extends beyond project delivery to include operational safety, execution efficiency, and environmental protection, supporting long-term sustainable development in the region.



The parties involved in the partnership also indicated that this collaboration lays the foundation for long-term cooperation focused on knowledge transfer, local content development, and innovation in marine engineering, commissioning, and decommissioning within Malaysia’s offshore energy sector.
