EPF 2024 Dividend Anticipated to Surpass 2023, Says Amir Hamzah

Kuala Lumpur: The Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) encouraging performance for the third quarter of 2024 is expected to yield good returns for contributors. Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stated that EPF contributors can expect a better dividend distribution for 2024 compared to 2023.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan highlighted the strong performance of EPF, noting that by the third quarter of last year, the EPF had already earned RM57.5 billion in investment income, surpassing the previous year’s performance. He emphasized that this positive trend is anticipated to continue into the fourth quarter, although he refrained from specifying the exact dividend rate.

EPF declared a higher dividend of 5.50 percent for 2023 compared to 5.35 percent in 2022 for conventional savings, with a total distribution of RM50.33 billion. Meanwhile, the dividend for Shariah savings was 5.40 percent, up from 4.75 percent in 2022, with a total distribution of RM7.48 billion. The EPF is expected to announce the 2024 dividend rate in early March, with several economists and academics predicting it to exceed six percent.

More than 3,700 Ministry of Finance (MOF) staff and members of the public participated in the Larian ASEAN: Trek Kewangan @MOF event, organized in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship 2025. Amir Hamzah, along with MOF top management, completed the three-kilometer category of the event.

The run aimed to raise awareness among MOF staff and the public about ASEAN, its establishment, role, and significance to Malaysia and member countries. It also highlighted the activities conducted throughout the year, particularly by the MOF. “The run also supports healthy living practices, especially among MOF staff in line with the MADANI values of well-being, which emphasize balance in life,” Amir Hamzah stated.
